Hi,
Have you tried contacting your local MP with this guy's circumstances, and maybe get the MP to contact the local paper too. You will have more impact if you fax your MP at the House of Commons, (this can be done by email & the email converts it to a fax at the other end).
I used this method to help me with a problem, and you will be surprised how much weight an MP can put behind your cause.
All the best

Hi, just read your very moving story. I know of a web site https://www.entitledto.co.uk that if you enter your details they should give you an estimation of tax credits etc which your friend would qualify for.
I wish him good luck,

I work for a nationwide charity called Emmaus. We have Communities throughout the UK which provide previously homeless people with a home, work and a chance to regain their self respect.
All Emmaus Communities aim to be self financing, each has a furnture recycling business, which is run by residents, where they sell donated furniture and other household goods (It never ceases to amaze me what people throw away!) People can stay in the Community for as long as they want to but those that want it get support in moving on.
Before joining Emmaus I had no knowledge of homelessness - I now realise how lucky alot of us are.

Emmaus is a secular organisation. The name Emmaus (pronounced e-may-us) was chosen by Abbé Pierre, its French founder, as it symbolises hope. It comes from a story in St Luke's Gospel and although Emmaus is not a religious organisation, Communities around the world have kept the name because of its symbolism.
Companions (as residents are called) get a weekly allowance of around £30.
