IKANO Bank Loan Applicatio In My Name

Watch out for fraudulent applications being made via IKANO Bank online load applications. I think I was lucky in that the loan in my misspelt name got sent for referral. Any upfront checks at the bank seem to be non-existent! And I am now penalised for having a tag against my credit reference as being a victim of identify fraud. Oh btw they cannot share the application with me as it is not mine! go figure.

How did you find out that a loan had been applied for in your name? Did the loan company contact you? Usually most victims of impersonation don't realise it until they start to apply for credit elsewhere and get declined, then check their credit files....

You should obtain copies of all 3 of your credit files (Experian, Equifax and Call Credit) to see if the fraudster has tried to take out anything else.

Regarding the 'tag' against your files, this is a protective registration and it is useful because if the fraudster or anyone else tries to apply for anything, the application will be referred until the lender can speak to you and check it was you who made the application.

Usually ID theft/fraud is carried out by someone close/you live with. Do you live in a building where your post/mail box can be accessed by others?
