25 turning 26 year old car insurance

Morning,

I am asking a question that may seem obvious but I couldn't find anything in search.
I am currently doing my driving lessons and hope to have passed in the next 2 months.
I plan on buy a car and getting going straight away. This is where my confusion comes around.

I know that many people say that your car insurance comes down after 25 years old. As I will turn 26 part way (4 months) through my insurance term would that be factored in?

Any clarification would be appreciated

The price will be based on the conditions at the inception of the policy. It wouldn't make a blind bit of difference anyway for a new driver if they're 25 or 26.

The insurers have found that the vast majority of their customers have a birthday during the year, and base their premiums according;y.
  • It doesn't make a difference, but I found the term 'Under 25' usually means '25 and under' if you're expecting any lower premiums based on age.

Do an insurance quote with your correct birth date, wipe your browser cookies and try again with a false date saying you're 26. If the difference is significant enough maybe hold off on the car until you're 26. Probably won't be that big a difference though.

I have heard about Insurance getting cheaper when I turned 21, it didn't.

Insurance was supposed to get cheaper at 25 then 30, some suggested 40.

I assume now it must be 50 for it to get cheaper and as soon as I turn 50 it will likely be 65.

It's likely to start going up at 65.

Still can't complain at fully comp insurance for £200 plus some change.

Insurance gets gradually cheaper the older you get but its a year on year thing, I don't remember any one particular year where my age made a huge difference..

NCD made a big dent in the premium though, the first year was worth 30% discount, the following 3-4 years, 10% each year.
  • Usually won't get the "drive other cars" entitlement until you're over 25. This was the case with Admiral when I was under 25 then first renewal after 25 had it included.
