O/S Daily Friday 19 August 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very cloudy and overcast but sky has some pink and orange tinge to it, so could mean some rain, forecast is for windy weather tomorrow. 1 load of washing ready to go out on the line.
DH and DS2 up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans/veg for DH and DS2, myself and DS1 had HM fish pie and veg. Tonight will be fish pie and veg for me, (I made a small extra one) menfolk something easy and chips.
I wasn't particularly productive yesterday - although I did get 3 x loads of washing done and line dried, stripped and re-made our bed, did the ironing and did a couple of jobs on pc and got an important form completed and sent off for DH. Also went to town to visit building society and bank.
Today I'll be heading to the SM shortly, then home to crack on with getting shopping put away and want to get some baking/cooking done. I'll just potter along as I'm working tomorrow morning, then going away once I get home from work, just for 1 night.
Keep safe and well x

That naughty Internet ate my long post. I can't type it out again, so I will just wish everyone a good day.
Rain is coming. Good, the air is heavy.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Rain due today so no washing. Cut the grass when I got home yesterday, it's growing really quickly at the moment, serves me right for putting a weed and feed on it!
Busy day at work yesterday but felt I got a few things done, it will be a testing day today as the children are back (Friday seems a silly day to have the children back after a long holiday but hey ho).
Going to look at a community garden today where I have been offered a bed, sounds promising and probably easier than an allotment.
Have a good Friday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread nmlc.
My drive to Glasgow yesterday was so lovely, a blue cloudless sky and not many lorries to slow down the traffic. I did my usual stop off at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar to get Mum some salmon trimmings and a big bagel. As I don't eat fish I only got myself a coffee.
Mum was at the docs so I collected her and once w got home we sat and talked. She's writing her memoirs and found the writings of her cousin. Heart-breaking just about covers it as they grew up in WW2 (on the other side) but had just the same problems with the added issue of a maniac being in charge.
Anyway...today rain is forecast followed by an Atlantic storm which sent my mind into a bit of a spin. Did I or did I not close the bedroom window? I remember thinking about closing it but that doesn't help! I emailed someone who drives past every morning taking his son to school asking him to look in and close it if need be. Brain cells slowing down.
I'm off to town this morning. Mum needs a couple of things from Lake*and so I'll mooch around the galleries.
I'm thinking about those with poorly family members. Keep your own strength up too.
Another Friday, hope it's a good one for everyone.0 -
Morning :hello:
I ordered some office stuff from Amazon on wednesday at about 5.30pm, standard delivery so I expected it on saturday at the earliest - it arrived yesterday at 10.30am! Fab service. I love my stationery and had great fun arranging files, folders, poly pockets and papers, I feel so organised now
It's raining here. I like walking in the rain but it's a bit too heavy, so unless it eases off a bit we'll be staying in today. I did all the housework yesterday and mr tru is working today (he's usually off on fridays) so I have an unexpected day off. A whole day to myself, everyone else is out all day and there's nothing to do
It's over a month til our holiday, but I'm going to choose a book to take with me. I want to take some crochet too so will be searching for new patterns for a blanket. Then the best bit – piling my yarn stash on the table to pick colours

Morning all
I'm going to sit with the DGC for a while this morning as DD1 has a dr's appointment.
I think it could rain here too this morning, but the gardens needs it.
Not sure what else today will bring, we may have one of the DGD to stay tonight, it depend on what hubby's friends plans are,
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all, thankyou nmic for starting us off.
WE HAVE RAIN just gentle but very welcome for the garden. I have a blue hydranga which is looking very sorry for itself, I do hope it will perk up.
We have a little shopping to do but not much.
DD1 and DGD are going to my nephew's wedding in London tomorrow, but the weather doesn't sound promising. I have asked for photos to be sent so I can see everyone in their finery.
Lainey I hope Mum has recovered from her faint now and is taking things steady, I can understand why she isn't having the biopsy, she has been through enough, and it doesn't sound as though it will change anything unfortunately
Elona you must be so happy and relieved that all your buillding work is finished, and also your garden. Your DH would be so proud of what you have achieved. It seemed a mammoth task at the beginning but with the help of the girls as well you have done it.
Have a good weekend all

Morning all and thanks for the thread nmlc X
Feeling a bit jaded this morning as went out with friends for a curry and didn't get home until midnight. Head is also a bit sore
Colder here today and we too have rain coming later. Tomorrow is BILs wedding and the reception is in a marquee in ILs garden. We have a weather warning for 50mph winds and rain all day. Hopefully it won't materialise!
Still no job news for DH - aaaargh! Hugs to all those in need.
Have a good day all

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The rain hasn't got here YET but is due late morning. Shouldn't complain as the gardens so need it. Talking of gardens the communal garden sounds a good idea CAMELOT, I haven't heard of those before.
Yesterday went to plan. Two washer loads dried and ironed and then got the packing for our coach trip done. Once again my intentions of travelling light didn't come off! Feet pampered and toe nails re-painted.
This morning we need to trip in town to collect our scripts and get them dispensed. Then Mr TA has to go to the health centre to have his fortnightly bloods done. I need one or two bits from town and finally the railway station to buy our tickets for Liverpool for the hospital visit after our holiday. It will save a job when we get home again.
Goodness knows what's on the menu today! I am clearing the contents of the fridge before we go so lots of bits and pieces to eat up. I foresee some bizarre concoctions!
Have a good day if you can. Thinking of LAINEY and CSARINA. ((HUGS)) to all who need them. Hope today goes well for you DUMPLING (I think I have the right day!) Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Just popped back to wish RR and family a fabulous holiday and hope dumpling has a great day.0
