Keeping your tyres at the right pressure aids fuel economy. :D

Never heard of special tyres.

The level of grip is a bit lower than non-eco equivalents but then again, people buying these tyres aren't going to be the type to hoon it down B roads.
  • probably not for me then, as i'm considering them for my new Golf GTTDI and spend most of my travelling time on A-roads and motorways
  • i had michelin energy tyres years ago and found them to be be very lacking in grip - epsecially in the wet. theydid last a long time tho but i can't say i noticed much in the way of fuel savings.

i would not get them again.

but that was years gao, they may be better now.

One of the most popular standard fit fuel saving tyre is the Michelin Energy range of tyres. These tyres are fairly hard and last for ages. Grip is wet and dry is middle of the road.

I had Michelin Energys on my Zafira and when they wore down I changed them for the softer and grippier Goodyear Eagle F1s. The change was noticable. Ride and noise was lower but the rolling resistance of the F1s were a lot higher and the car seemed blunted during acceleration. But it's a trade off and I chose the ultimate wet weather grip over fuel saving.

Most other brands have low rolling resistance/fuel saving tyres under Eco brands.
