Not only are First Direct allowing me to earn interest on £17000 of their cash for six months.
But they have also sent me 6 bottles of wine to celebrate the fact!
Thankyou Martin for bringing this stoozing lark to my attention. What fun!

When I saw the title of this thread I was going to say "why...did they buy you a drink?"
It turns out they've done exactly that!
Jobs a good 'un. Well done.0 -
Yep, more than "a" drink - tons of em
We drank one last night, a Yallum Ridge Australian Shiraz, and bloody lovely it was too. So not sending out all the old dross either.0 -
Sorry - I don't understand, what's the deal?0

I'm not sure what the deal was to be honest.
Did a search on here and it seems from time to time they give a half case of wine when you apply for a credit card. Not sure if it's still running - couldn't see anything on the FD website.
It was a rather pleasant surprise delivery though when it turned up yesterday0 -
I opened up a First Direct bank account earlier this year, with a view to getting a credit card with a high limit from them towards the end of the year. I have heard of FD sending cases of wine to customers in the past. I don't think that it is usually part of a formal offer - just something they do to say "thanks" for being a customer. It probably makes the customer more favourably disposed to them and, therefore, more likely to stay loyal.

No, you had to go via a special link to get the wine. Here's what it used to be but as the offer is over you won't find much there:

They have run wine promotions a couple of times, plus about a year ago they offered free flights AND free hotel accomodation for taking out a credit card. Bit of a bargain which I made full use of for a weekend in Rome - and very nice it was too.
The offers don't seem to last long so keep an eye out for them.
Not only did they give me my freebie but they also let me have £25k to stooze with. What nice people.0 -

Very nice people indeed
I asked for the gold card over the phone, so don't think it can have only been via the link. Can't remember when I applied exactly, but I think it was before the end of February which I believe was the when the offer ended.0 -
Yes we got the 6 free bottles of wine & then the Free £25 for using them as a stooze pot backup.
That makes me like them so much I might even stay with them... perhaps I'll even apply for one of their 0% balance transfer credit cards.0
