Acers have really come a long way from their budget image. If you're looking for top end then you have the ACER Predator 17
In Cloudbooks you have the ACER Chromebook R11. In standard machines the Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition is a very nice piece of kit.
Budget you can get the Acer Aspire ES1-111M for around £2000 -

We would be looking around £300-400, the reason for two is both ours are c4 years old and are getting problematic, slowing down despite regular maintainance etc. Are there still retailers that will do a deal if we were buying two?0

if its just a case of getting a bit slower, the simplest (and cheapest option) would be to back up your data and do a factory reset, that will normally fix most speed issues, and allow you to choose just the applications you actually use to be reinstalled.
granted it can be a pain in the !!!! for a couple of hours, but a hell of a lot better than spending £600-800 when you might not need toDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
What is your existing model of laptop?
Just to check if you can simply solve the problem by adding RAM/ upgrade SSD/ factory restore.0 -
^^ This - One of my pet hates is when people think they need a new laptop because theirs is a few years old and thats the reason why its slow ..
If your dead set on a new one then fair enough, but i bet you would be amazed at the speed increase simply off a fresh install ..
Add an SSD and the differnce will be night and day0 -
They are an ACER aspire E-15 and an ACER 5750 i dont think they are able to take an SSD, they are slow granted i know its not just the age, they have both started to "lock" and turn off without in put also one has "blue screened" multiple times, one is running on W10 (free upgrade) one on W7 (W10 upgrade failed)0

Aspire 5750 HDD can be swapped with an SSD in a few minutes. Aspire E15, a relatively poor design for user replacement.
Swap to an SSD and run a clean install. You can put you old HDD into a £3 caddy and copy your data over at leisure.
You seem to have a lot of faith in ACER, yet you appear to have two failing machines, one of which is a pain in the posterior to service.0 -

TBH we had a pair of HP machines that cost double and lasted 3 months out of the warranty and were FUBAR

I don't think you'd get much discount just for buying 2-off, to be honest, though I'd be interested if anyone knows better.0
