Written acceptance

Hi all,
I'm purchasing a property in Scotland and I made a verbal offer on a flat on the 3rd of August and had a verbal acceptance on the same day.
My solicitor then informed me to go ahead and proceed with mortgage application and the written acceptance would be with me in 7-10 days.
I went to see the flat again on the 11th and spoke to the seller who said that the estate agents only received my written offer on the 10th.
I then phoned my solicitor on the 12th to get an update. He informed me that the qualified acceptance pack would be with me in a couple of days.
Mortgage application was also submitted on the 12th and I am just waiting on employer reference and MA is confident an offer should be confirmed very quickly.
It is now 15 days post verbal offer and I have no formal evidence that my offer has been accepted. I have just called my solicitor again, who said he would call me back after he checks the file..(over an hour ago).
Am I just being a little impatient or are these reasonable timings?
Any advice/shared experience is much appreciated
Thanks

Pretty normal to wait a week or so before you get a qualified acceptance, it needs to be copied to the sellers, their solicitor needs to go through it with them, possibly wait for title deeds to come in from their lender...I wouldn't presume anything untoward.
Are you just being impatient for progress or is there a particular urgency about your situation? You haven't told us what date of entry you're working towards. Bear in mind that nothing is going to be particularly formal until both sides are ready to conclude missives - and you're not, because you're still waiting for your mortgage offer.0 -
As above, did your offer suggest a purchase date? Qualified acceptance can take a wee while as the seller's solicitor draws up all of their sale terms and confirms it with the seller, before getting it out to your solicitor.0

Ahh okay, thanks very much, was just concerned as my solicitor originally gaved an estimate of 7-10 days.
Don't have an entry date as yet (rookie mistake I know).. that's why I was keen to receive written acceptance to clarify.
Seller has already moved out and I am a FTB so can move in whenever.0 -
Nothing wrong with going back to them just now and suggesting a date. Make sure you've got at least 4-6 weeks though as the process can take longer than you think and it's not anything you can necessarily speed up yourself.0

I posted a similar thread on here a while ago. We are in Scotland and we had still no written acceptance of our offer at 25 days after they had verbally accepted our offer! Our solicitor just told us not to worry as things were all progressing fine?!?!0

Really ellie27? How long did it take to get it? And for the rest of the process to complete?0 -
The written offer and acceptance, and any other exchanges to follow, are termed the 'missives', and these pass between solicitors on each side. In the vast majority of cases, these aren't passed to their clients. Your sol takes instructions from you and carries them out via missives.0
