Beware - Our Booking.com Bungalow was a tent

In a bit of a last minute rush, I booked 7 days accommodation in Spain for early July costing 420 Euros on Priceline, described as follows…..
“Room type: Two-Bedroom Bungalow. Non refundable. This bungalow features 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a kitchen. Max 5 guests. Hotels may charge for additional guests”

When I got there the bungalow was a tent.

On arriving home, I alerted Priceline (who turn out to be Booking.com) to the misleading description on their site, not to seek compensation, but so that future travelers would not be misled. They wrote to commiserate with my disappointment and offered me 25 euros.

I replied saying I had wanted them to change the description, and that ‘bungalow’ to an English speaker suggests a solid structure.

Booking.com / Priceline responded saying their descriptions were accurate and repeated their offer of 25 euros.

We have been going back and forth, but no progress. Today they told me 'this is the first complaint ever of this kind for this property on our systems.' (Maybe I'm wrong, but a bungalow to me is absolutely not a tent.)

Anyway I have concluded that I'm wasting my time. They won't / can't / can't be bothered to respond to feedback about accommodation descriptions.

I’m posting this to warn people to be very wary of accommodation descriptions on Booking.com / Priceline etc.

Tent is in on a campsite, and held down with pegs and ropes, or do you mean a Yurt?

Interesting one. Please post a link.
  • It was a tent as in tent on a campsite. It had a shower room and kitchen facilities.
I tried to post a link but was prevented by an 'ip address banned' message. (Posting this on my phone) But if you google "images of trigano pagan tent" - the "bungalow" was one of the green and yellow ones.

Everything I can find in English refers to these as bungalow tents and the site is a camping site. Here for instance
