I was expecting to wait months for a pip application to be processed
we applied by phone 21st june, got the forms 2 weeks later posted back about 10 th july.
had appointment for face to face on 1st August.
the nurse was very good she understood about my husbands condition severe copd and could see he is breathless even at rest
she did not do any physical examination said there was no need.
my husband walked into the assessment he uses a stick to lean on and rest every few meters.
we did not think he would get any award, he is not in pain, can walk but needs it rest often.
we filled the form in honestly and enclosed some test results but did not get letter from the doctor.
He could have gone to the assessment in a wheelchair but he refuses to use one while he can walk. I think this helped his case he was so breathless he could hardly talk.
On 10th august pip money backdated in bank, 11th august letter to say he has enhanced rate for care and mobility. He got the 12 points for mobility because he can not walk 20 meters without being breathless.
I know from reading posts on here that it was very quick and hope this post gives others hope.

I've not had invitation to PIP for my son yet, but he also gets very breathless and has a lot of pain when walking. He uses a wheelchair when we are out because he can't walk far. In addition, if he does walk too much, he is shattered for the rest of the day and the following day. Hopefully he will receive enhanced mobility when the time comes (currently HRC and HRM).
Thank you for posting - it's good to hear a positive result.0 -
Thanks shelly that's a great help to me as we seem to be slightly behind you in the application stage. Sent forms off last week in July had appointment yesterday. They said it could be 4-8 weeks to get a response but hopefully it won't be that long.
OH was in a car accident in feb has lost most of the strength in his right side, can hardly walk more shuffles as best he can, gets out of breath quickly, only has 30% movement in the shoulder and can't grip anything properly, has cognitive fatigue, speech problems, memory issues, and being investigated for a c-spine compression
He is looking at a rebuild or replace on his shoulder and possible spinal surgery if they find a compression in his neck. He had his MRI for those on Sunday gets the results in 3 weeks
I am really worried we won't get it and we really can't afford not to as ssp runs out shortlyFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
It's great to hear that some areas of the country seem finally to have got their act together in respect of timescales for assessment. Please do bear in mind though that timescales do still vary greatly from area to area.0

I think it is also down to where you live, his ESA was also completed in a a month with no face to face
we live in Staffordshire.0 -
I live in Staffordshire but my PIP had to go to tribunal and I only got standard mobility despite sending in loads of test results/ consultant letters. I also have severe COPD/Emphysema and I think because I'm only 41 my age goes against me. ESA took nearly 6 months!!.0
