Changing Hotel After Booking

I booked 2 weeks in Vegas a few months back staying at the monte carlo hotel.
found out yesterday that major renovation works are starting on October 3 all the way through till late 2018. as a result a large part of the shops and restaurants in the hotel are closing and the pool is being closed as well.
Is it possible to change hotels after they have been booked. never known of anything like this myself so I'm a bit lost on what to do.
its costing us a lot of money for 2 weeks and i don't want to be staying in a half close / demolished hotel.

What were the T&C's of the booking?
Refundable or not?0 -
We booked through a rewards site to get a discount for working in the NHS. so the site is your travel rewards which is apart of affinion. but it says our tour operator is Thomas cook. not sure which T&Cs to look at:j0

Call Thomas Cook and see if you have a booking with them and whether or not you can manage the booking with them.
Once you know that, you can work on the issue.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
If you cannot change, it might not be as bad as you think. Most LV hotels have some kind of work going on all the time, and as it is done in stages you don't tend to notice.
With regard to the pool, are you going in pool season? You will have access to the huge pool complex at MGM Grand as an alternative.
The restaurants and shops are unlikely to all close at once. Plus in Vegas it's very unlikely you'd use the hotel outlets often, as there are so many (and in the case of the Monte Carlo, far better) alternatives.
What I would do is contact the hotel and see if they can give you an idea of whst is happening when you are there. If it does sound like it will inconvenience you then look at changing. But keep in mind these hotels are massive, the MC has 3,000 rooms, it's quite possible that the work will be barely noticeable to you.0 -
I have been to Vegas before and yes although they will let guests use the MGM pool as an alternative, i don't fancy walking for half hour across the street in my speedos (i don't wear speedos but you get my gist).
No doubt monte carlo wont reduce its resort fees either during this period.
i have spoken to my travel agent who got in touch with Thomas cook, they are aware of the situation and are having a meeting on Monday on what to offer customers, no idea what that might be, if its waiving the admin fees which would have been £100 then i will happily pay more for just switching hotel.
The annoying part is, the work starts in October and is planned for 2 years. they must have known about this and didn't inform anyone.:j0 -

They only announced the renovations in June, for good reason I guess to keep bookings up.
To be honest it wouldn't bother me, I rarely use a pool in Vegas and the only other thing that is closed is the pub and a few shops.
There are far better eating options and shops( as you know)
Guessing the MC was cheap ( it usually is) what else was available for similar price, may be worth looking and asking if it's possible to change.
I always book direct with hotels in Vegas with the option to cancel at no cost , maybe worth looking at in future0
