Yuck! I've never come across anyone eating it. It's wax & years ago on item on a saving money programme I saw a woman who said that she saved it all year, rolled it round a wick of some sort & made candles for Christmas.

I love Edam, its my favourite cheese, and I usually cut off the rind under the wax. As kids we always called it "toe Skin" and my Mother would go mad at us for saying it.Jane
