Help with hard stiff carpet

Hi,
Really after some help, I have a fairly new carpet about 1 year old. I have a vax rapide and clearly ignored the instructions the first time I cleaned the carpet and used loads of the shampoo and no matter what I do parts of the carpet are really flat, stiff and hard.
I've tried using a mixture of vinegar and water and scrubbed hard and its still really stiff.
Does anyone have any good tips to rejuvenate my carpet.

What type of carpet is it? Just wondering why you wouldn't use shampoo?0

Did you by any chance use hot water as the heat can damage the fibres of a nylon-type carpet.0

Because I had read online that i havent got all of the old shampoo out of the carpet so with vinegar the idea is to loosen the harden fibres.
Any ideas?! I'm not sure what kind it is its from Carpet Right or something fairly cheap £17 psqm0 -

Sorry, a misunderstanding. I meant that in your first post you said you ignored the instructions and used shampoo. What you meant was you used too much?
My mistake, sorry.0
