Win 10 anniversary and Classic Shell

Did anyone else get the same as I did - when updating to Win 10 anniversary - I was told "Classic Shell 4.3.0 had been removed automatically - due to lack of compatibility with Win 10 anniversary" - I ignored this and manually reinstalled the program and it IS compatible.

Could this be MS up to old tricks again ......??

    Nope it just worked .
But as always any major update can conflict with an app even more so with a shell.

Just googled it - evidently Classic shell was hacked a couple of weeks ago and malware was added - hopefully now clean ?

I had the same message but I think that I was on an older version of Classic Shell in any case.

Despite being told that it had been removed, the program was still there so I just updated it to 4.3 and carried on as usual.

Similar here. I had an older version of classic shell that anniversary removed and wouldn't let reinstall despite Shell updating only a few days ago to the anniversary compatible version. I deleted and downloaded the latest Shell version 4.3.0 and it seems to work fine.

EDIT. Anniversary also broke the shortcuts to the classic windows games. I reinstalled but I think simply deleting the shortcuts and recreating them would work.

I am still getting a warning from Win 10 at boot up - that Classic Shell has been removed - due to incompatibility - but the strange thing is that it has not been removed - it still runs exactly as before.
I have asked MS why this is - and they blame Classic shell - rather than accepting that it was due to the latest Anniversary Update !!
