IGT & GB Energy vs SSE
Hi all,
like a lot of people i am currently on the MSE Eon Collective fix.
AS its due to end in a few weeks ive completed a few comparisons.
GB Energy £590
SEE £610 - £30 cashback.
GB Energy seem to have better reviews and there are no eatly leave penalties.
However apparently im supplied by a IGT ("Independent Gas Transporter" ), which could not only cause issues and delays in the switch but may lead to me being charged more.
Does anyone have experience of switch to either GB or SSE with an IGT?
thanks,

We are on an IGT as well. The new estate was set yp and the builders did not notify us that we were on IGT. This is an extra payment on your GAS as you rightly mentioned. I don;t know if you can challenge this ?0

Who are you with???
None of the big 6 charge extra for an IGT, nor do most small suppliers nowdays (except bulb who think it is ok to charge £100 p.a ). However, not all small suppliers will supply those serviced via an IGT.
Sorry OP, I do not know what GB Energy's policy is on this. If you cannot find it on their website, I suggest you call them.
As regards SSE, my experinence is you need to keep on top of them. They will tell you they are waiting for a response from the IGT, but the reality usually is that the IGT is not the cause of any delay, but rather it is SSE who is waiting for their man in their own back office to load the IGT's response to the SSE computer system.0 -
Don't switch to GB Energy. Am also supplied by IGT and still in process of switching to GB Energy. I previously switched to OVO energy and had no issues with the switch last year despite the IGT; this year's switch has been terrible though.
So far they've managed to mess up my direct debit payments and more importantly reported a spurious (final) gas meter reading to my previous supplier. I'm facing a large bill from my previous supplier, whilst also being charged again for the same gas by GB Energy. Awesome. As soon as I can hopefully get this sorted I will be switching away.0 -

Welcome to MSE. :hello:
An IGT has nothing to do with your direct debit payments.
There is no way you should be charged twice for the same usage. If you don't trust your new supplier to resolve the issue, contact your old one because in this situation, you can chose to contact either to resolve the issue.
You may not get the complete resolution you may want, as the meter reading needs to be agreed by a third party, buit whatever that meter reading is agreed as, it must be used by both the old & new supplier. The difference in price should be negligible0
