    And the headline "6% fixed" is really not as good as it sounds, if you open one expecting to put in the full £3600 and get back £216 you'll be disappointed as you'll actually get around £117. Still worth doing, and I do, but not that great.

    Why one or the other? Why not both? They are two totally different approaches, and not mutually exclusive.

    Most people who have savings and are still working are likely to still be adding to their savings. So it's much better for them to pay the amount they save each month into a 6% regular saver than any other account!.

    If anyone is disappointed by the interest paid on a regular savings account then they really need to do some more research so they better understand their finances.
