Sounds an unlikely story to me. Tesco won't just shift DD dates willy-nilly. You probably inadvertently selected September 19. But it won't matter - any working day in the calendar month of September 2016 will be fine for the first BOS DDs.

This will be because they are already started the instruction to pull the money from your accounts.

Mine are due out on the 21st of the month, and they both say 21st September, as they have already started the process for the August payment so the next date will be September.

I made the mistake last month, as I too noticed it seemed to skip a month and then changed the date again and 2 DD came out on the 21st and the 22nd which was the next available date when I changed the Date from the DD...

Dont worry the DD will still process in August.

Like CJ, I also used this option but the direct debit on the second account wasn't activated. The next time, I manually entered the details in the second account.

Both new direct debits were set for the 19 August, which was shown as the first available date when setting them up. However on checking just now, Tesco have changed the dates to 19 September. On a previous new direct debit, they changed the end date from Until Further Notice to a date sometime in the 2040s.

You need to keep a sharp eye on your Tesco accounts!

I have had the DD set up for months, on my 3 Halifax, COOP, Lloyds, Smile, and BOS accounts, so its nothing to do with them being new.

Dont worry the DD will still process in August.

Yes, thanks, this is exactly what happened. Good job I had enough in the account to pay the duplicate direct debits.
  • Hopefully, they wanted the DDs set-up by 2/9 which does sound like the Sept interest run, was just being super cautious.
You don't get it; 2 September is when the new rules come in. If you had to act before that date, then it would be a deadline.

    Where does it say this?

From the booklet I was sent it says....

'From 1 September 2016 you’ll need to pay at least two different Direct Debits from your Bank of Scotland Vantage account(s) each calendar month to receive credit interest. This is in addition to your existing requirement to pay in at least £1000 each calendar month and stay in credit for the monthly billing period'

Before the 1st there was no requirement to pay out any DD just the funding criteria and remaining in credit.

Any date in September will suffice, (possibly don't leave it too late in the month for processing)

    :-)
