For a refund, does within 14 include the day of purchase?

I bought some scarves in a shop and paid cash. The receipt says the items can be exchanged or returned within 14 days. I bought the items on a Sunday and returned 2 weeks later on a Sunday to exchange two of them for a different colour. I was told I was 1 day late, 14 days includes the day of purchase so 14 days was Saturday. Is that true?

As it is their policy and not law then they set the rules. If they say that the day of purchase is day one then Saturday will be day 140

Like unforseen says you have no legal right to a refund if you change your mind after purchasing goods instore. A number of stores will have refund polices that give you rights above those they have to offer by law. A store can state in their policies that goods purchased instore can be returned within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.0

Store is correct, you made an error of judgment and expect the store to waive this. Sorry but you will have to accept your mistake.0

Try appealing to their head office if they have one.
As above, where theres no statutory rights, retailers are free to set their own terms however you could potentially argue the 14 days is misleading as 1 day is 24 hours - in one days time it will be thursday, in 7 days time it will be wednesday again. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
