O/S Daily Wednesday 17 August 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, very light cloud with loads of blue sky, sun trying to peek out, warm already. Washing ready to go out on the line before I leave for work.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas, tonight dinner should be pork steaks (I got them out of the freezer to defrost) but I have the cook from frozen chicken, so I could just use that and have the pork tomorrow night). I'll be serving mash, veg and gravy - with either the pork or chicken.

Work yesterday was another all or nothing day - we were either manic or dead, we'll see what tomorrow brings. Working all day - as I'm doing the extra hours this afternoon, then I'm on days' off but working Saturday morning.

I stayed up to watch the Olympics last night - another great day - Team GB you're doing yourselves and your country really proud x

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Fantastic day yesterday, the Isle of Bute was stunning. We cycled around 15 miles, lots of it uphill - I didn't sign up for hills! The weather was glorious and it was just what I needed to end the holidays.

Back to work today after 7 weeks off, just as the weather improves. Still, it will be good to get back in some sort of routine.

Hugs to those in need, take care. XX

    Morning all

Thanks for starting the thread nmlc.

Hugs to Lainey, Csarina I hope OH is getting the treatment he needs now.

DD's dogs went home around 8 yesterday, they were no trouble and slept most of the time they were here.

Hubby is scaling back what he was hoping to get done on the house, his poor friend is beyond devastated and needs a lot of support for the a while. The friend and wife were not actually married, there is no will and the problems have already started with the family.

We will attend the funeral with him, I'm really not looking forward to it, my hubby's sister-in-law, the one who spat in my face at MIL's funeral will be there as she worked with the deceased. I really hope she behaves herself this time!

My DD's are coming over on Sunday to finish decluttering the house, but we will not now meet our deadline for putting the house on the market as there are still too many outstanding jobs that need doing. If needs be we can manage financially until the New Year, though I think once the funeral is over hubby's friend will be able to move on.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Slightly overcast here but looks as if I will brighten up later on, I am going back to work today as I feel so much better no 'episodes' since lunch time yesterday.

We went to start packing yesterday and where the bags had been in the loft they were a bit fusty smelling so I put them all in the wm one at a time, including an old fake leather one which is nice but ancient I thought it would either work or not ! but they came up lovely and are on the line drying now, so we can start packing tonight.

Off to mums for dinner tonight and we are having egg bacon chips and beans, I know cos I dropped it off yesterday, I love that dinner, so looking forward to that.

I need to re do our house insurance tonight as ours runs out while we are away and the company are not doing house insurance any more, so will see if I can get a better quote elsewhere.

Right have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Hooray for sunshine yesterday camelot though uphill cycling sounds like hard work. Hope you enjoy going back to work.

Today looks like it'll be another sunny day same as yesterday. I sat up too late last night watching the cycling, not good for me.

I'm having a hair cut this morning, it's a week overdue as I changed it for my visitors last week. It's gone from being manageable to a birds nest in a few days. I've stopped having it cut short as I didn't like it too much and, although it needs thinned, I prefer it being thick.

One of the herds of cows have migrated to the field outside during the night. Lots of calves and assorted cows up and chewing already.

Breakfast will be eggs of some sort and there's chicken for later. Apart from that I've no idea of how my day will pan out.

Happy Wednesday everyone and hugs all round.

Morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc X

JackieO - love hearing about your holiday. I haven't been to the IOW for 35 years (school journey) so really must go back sometime.

    Hester/csarina/Lainey - hugs

I too stayed up to watch the Olympics. So tense on the men's race when they kept false starting! What a great achievement by Team GB so far and still lots to come, including Tom Daley :)

I was at the charity yesterday and our Chairman was in. We had a productive day and it was good to catch up with him. Today I'm at the church. DS1 has been asked back for labouring work today. He now knows how to construct footings for a wall, using a cement mixer and float. It's all good experience for him for the future.

DH has his third interview this afternoon. Hoping for good news even if it means a large pay cut. We will have to pull in our belts, but I'm up for the challenge - beans on toast for tea anyone?!

Hope you all have a great day

    Morning :hello:

Good luck to your OH Coxy x

Butterfly Brain and snoozer My hygienist is fab, it's just that I have slightly receding gums and very sensitive teeth. She always uses desensitising gel, avoids a couple of really painful areas (she uses a manual tool instead of the jetwasher and sandblaster on them, lol) and occasionally injects painkillers if I'm being particularly wimpy :D I don't know what I'd do if she left the practice, I just don't trust anyone else.

Gers That's not idle, it's ideal :D Lovely photos, I'll be along shortly with The Scamps. I may stay forever, the thought of being hundreds of miles away from mr tru is so very tempting :D

Scampi was fab yesterday, we were near two groups of childen and a pushchair! and I managed to ninja my way through it :D It involved a few perfectly timed u-turns, massive praise, a few treats and ended with him calmly watching them walk past from a distance of about 20 feet. Not sure if I was more proud of him or myself :D

I've picked more tomatoes and cucumbers, they're delicious! Also lots of pattypan squash, which no-one likes so obviously that's the thing that has grown the best/most of, lol.

I have a couple of hours work to do and the house needs dusting and hoovering. My teeth feel almost normal again so I'm looking forward to some proper food – my mouth is watering at the thought of fish pie and peas :D

Morning all, I am going to work a little later than usual as will be working late. I did suffer a bit with that drat ted air conditioning, horrible dry, recycled air. There are no openable windows. Still, not a lot I can do about that though my manager is bringing in a humidifer to help me. She is a great boss.

Hester is it not possible for your OH to be at the funeral without you? Or would that make things more difficult for him and friend?

    Well done small Scampi!

Time to get ready, hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • AOD, it's not me she has the problem with, it's my OH, her husband and mine are brothers and hate the sight of each other. She hit my hubby round the head with her handbag at MIL's funeral and spat in my face when I suggested she behaved her self.

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc x

Wall to wall sunshine here today, all ready for the most beautiful bride in the world

We are all sitting here in our PJ's drinking tea and looking forward to our day, bit bleary eyed as also stayed up to watch the cycling, how exciting was that! It's great to see how well our team are doing and obviously all the investment is paying off.

Good boy Scampi, that is impressive.

    Fingers crossed for Coxy's OH

Gers / Camelot, you are making want to visit the Isles again, haven't been for years but must rectify that soon.

    Hugs to Csarina.

Have a good day everyone, take card folks x
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Still in bed, woke a bit early, so brought my breakfast back to bed with me.

I got a lot done yesterday between rests. Momday clean, ironing and washed down the window frames on the front and also the front door. Will do the back on Friday.

In to see OH later, step son went yesterday, the medication they put him on for the dizzies is not working, he had a dizzy yesterday, tried to get back on the b d and ended up trapped between the bed and his chair!! Will see what they have to say about that when I go in this morning.

Another bright day, hope it is not as hot as it was yesterday. I managed to keep cool. Will be in the car for a while this morning, will use the multi storey car park at the hospital, the car will be cool when I get back to it.

Time to get my body out of bed.....
