Hotpoint replacement broken after 5 months !!!

Hi everyone.
I was told, along with countless others, that my dryer needed replacing. Nothing wrong with my lovely dryer, but I forked out £60.00 for a new replacement from Hotpoint. Replacement stopped working in month 5 ! No heat whatsoever. It hasn't stopped there though. They offered me an appointment late evening for the next morning ! I work full time, couldn't just take a random day off work.
Since then, the only appointment they can offer me is 23rd August, 4 weeks after it broke. I've tried asking for weekend appt or evening appt and they won't do it. The most they can do is offer me a 7 hour slot !!! I can't take that amount of time at work. They've said they won't replace the dryer, even tho it's under 6m old. Said would repair. I am so angry.
Anyone had anything similar with them ? I am shocked they haven't rushed out to replace it as their reputation is bad enough already. I almost wanted to approach media about it, dreadful, however no consumer programmes running. Any advice please ?
Thanks

To be fair to them they did want to rush out the very next morning.0

Probably didn't make this bit clear.... I'd been trying to get a reply for a week, I then facebooked them and they responded by sending an email offering a cancellation appt for a 7 hour slot the next day. I work, it's not possible to come home one evening and then just not turn up for work the next day. I do think 28 days between is ridiculous, especially as they've said he's only coming to look at it. To be fair, under 6m old means it was faulty leaving the factory by law does't it ? Had assumed automatic replacement. I've told them I'm currently spending money using launderette and putting heating on. Not hastened them at all.0

Even when one is insured, it is difficult getting a work-friendly appointment. We keep a spare washing machine in the conservatory to cope with such problems. I dare say we will add a back-up tumble dryer to the collection. These repairers tend to have days of the week for certain areas and they can be unbending. Even when they visit they have to return with spare parts.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Does anyone know whether I should have the right to have it replaced after just 5 months ?0

From Which?
Act fast to return faulty goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act you have an early right to reject goods that are unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described and get a full refund.
But this right is limited to 30 days from the date of purchase of your product. And this right doesn’t apply to faulty digital content.
After the initial 30 days, you can't demand a full refund in the first instance but you still have the right to a repair or replacement.
Bought after 1 October 2015
If you are outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any goods or digital content which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described.
You can choose whether you want the goods to be repaired or replaced.
But the retailer can refuse if they can show that your choice is disproportionately expensive compared to the alternative.
If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0
