    Just before the crash.

Do you make money these days form cash back by switching current accounts. If you can be bothered.

I'm only 33 but I remember opening a savings account in the early 2000's that paid 6%

    How times change

Around 1980 I had a postal account with Cheltenham and Gloucester BS which paid 10% interest!
I think inflation was about 10% then as well, so I guess it's 'swings and roundabouts'.

Exactly. People easily forget about inflation when they talk about savings interest.

Yes, and it has been even higher, eg. 24% in 1975, and even higher if you go back much further...

In that perspective, the current situation seems remarkably stable.

Coventry ISA down from 1.4% to 1.15% from 1 September.
Take my advice at your peril.

Got the letter from Tesco today. I'll stick with it for now as the bonus rate on top beats what is on offer in most other places I'd consider for overflow from the 3% current account.

each time my IS has lost it's bonus , I just took another one out, now 1.5%.Don't know how many they allow. Got IAS also
Hardly worth it now, except for, interest from my 2 current a/cs and;)
If LLoyds et. al, do the same as Santander, then, there will be no need for Tesco IS, IAS.
    we are doomed.:(
Wish I had never logged on now.
There will be plenty of redundant a/c paperwork to light the bonfires this November
