It's difficult for us to know as we can't see what is entailed. You would be better getting other quotes.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Doesn't sound too extreme, however... Three comments.
You may need a new flue liner - The ones used for gas are quite a bit cheaper than the twin wall stainless stuff used for wood burners.
No mention is made of a CO alarm - You must have one fitted. You may also need a wall vent unless the fire draws air in from outside.
Get the installer to cart away the waste - Unless the builder's opening is already clear, you may well end up with a tonne of rubble.
I fitted a stove recently and filled two dump bags (the size you get bulk sand delivered in) with rubble and assorted crap. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Thanks
The installer did mention a CO alarm when visiting although it wasnt mentioned in the quote.
What guide price is a new flue liner?Doesn't sound too extreme, however... Three comments.

Assuming a 5" liner, somewhere around £12 to £15 per metre. Then there is fitting - If the installer wants scaffolding, that could be another £400 or more, or £200 for a cherry picker. That said, if he is supplying and fitting a cowl for £100, I'd imagine he would be using ladders so wouldn't want/need scaffolding. Her courage will change the world.

Not correct it is only manadary to have a CO alarm if it's solid fuel & even then only in rented accommodation in England, different rules apply in ScotlandI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
