Are we entitled to anything

I'm 5 months pregnant due in December 2016
I was going to take 9months maternity leave and then go back to work.
I earn Aprox 16k
My partner earns about 28k.
We have a mortage and all our monthly bills come to around 1500 per month.
I was looking up the cost of childcare in my area and it's going to cost about 200-250 per week. Now I don't mind working. However I would rather not work just so someone else can look after my child.
Does anyone know if my partner will be entitled to tax credits or any other benefits if I left work?
My job isn't very supportive with flexible working so if I went back to work I will probably have to go to part time.
Does it go on last 12 months of earnings. If so do I have to be out of work for a year before we get anything?
I just want to work out all my options which benefit my family the most.
My mum lives in America and family live all across the country so help from family regarding childcare isn't really an option
Many thanks.

Partners income is too high for tax credits.
You'd get child benefit £20.70 per week.
Have you looked into childminders? That's what I'm doing and about £10 a day less.0
