Compare cost of journeys
Sometimes I have the choice of going on the motorway for 45 miles or through town for 29 miles.
Now obviously a) the distances vary and b) the fuel efficiency per mile will vary.
Assuming that there is no traffic problems (which of course is not predictable so can be ignored).
Is there any way I can calculate the amount of petrol I will use on either journey? I cannot find on line the theoretical mpg.
I drive a Toyota Yaris by the way.
(Obviously I could do it both ways but I was hoping that someone else would know this).

Not really without knowing the speed limits, number of traffic lights, etc etc etc.0

Easy way to calculate the cost for each journey, fill the tank and then do each journey filling up at the end of the journey. Then you will know exactly how much it cost.
Buy an M3 and you wont care what the MPG is

When yaris is mentioned it always prompts you to drop a line in lol:rotfl:“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

moi? surely not....
Maybe its just me. But when i need fuel i put some in. Whether its 0.1p cheaper down the road or not i fill up where i am.
I have run V8's so EVERYTHING is cheap to run. Cribbs Causeway to Newquay then onto Truro approx 80 litres of LPG.
Thats economy for you

I always think Yaris is a warning sign but the OP joined over 9 years ago and first posted 6 years ago. That is a long game even by DM standards. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0

Why is the Yaris a warning sign? Is this DM as direct marketing or daily mail?Rain_Shadow wrote: »I always think Yaris is a warning sign but the OP joined over 9 years ago and first posted 6 years ago. That is a long game even by DM standards.0 -
Try putting your routes into the via michelin website HERE you can select your car type not exact model but small, medium large, petrol or diesel , cost per litre etc. and it will assume certain mpg, so not an exact science but may help as a rough guide. for the motorway route tick the "prefer highways" frm the options list.
my similar commute shows as 27 miles on motorway taking 39mins and costing £3.15 or 19 miles m/way and town split 50-50 at 44 mins and £3.39 in fuel. So not much in it but more relaxing on the motorway, no stop/start, traffic lights or speed cameras and surely better for the car just ticking over.0
