How long does it take to complete on the sale of a plot of land?

Just wondered if anyone could give me an idea of how long it will take for the sale of a plot of land?
The buyers had been waiting for outline planning to come through before proceeding with their searches ect. This came through last Wednesday so just trying to figure out when they may complete?
Only ask as this is when my house purchase will start to go through
Thanks in advance.

Far too many unknowns to be able to answer.
* have buyers got finance sorted?
* are they dependant on a sale?
* Is the plot part of a bigger Title that eeds splitting?
* are there any legal issues - ownership? covenants?
* are there outstanding details/enquiries for buyer/seller to resolve?

Unfortunately it is impossible to guess how long any sale will take, and you have to remember that each stage involves relying on a lot of different people to do their jobs right! If you're lucky and all the searches come back clean and in good time, and your conveyancer is proactive in moving things forward, you could complete in a matter of weeks, if not it could easily be months or more.
The best thing that you can do is to keep a positive approach and make sure you know what stage you're at so you can give the relevant people a nudge in the right direction!
Best of luck.0 -
Thanks everyone, looks like Im still going to be clueless for a little longer haha.
Basically we are buying a house off the vendor who is selling the land. We knew we couldnt complete on the house till the land was sold but it was awaiting outline planning. I know the planning got approved last week so was kind of hoping things might begin to move for us now.
Never mind a few more months wont make a major difference just hope we are in by xmas lol.0 -

It depends what's been set up.
If a professional developer is involved, it's likely that conditional contracts were exchanged a long time ago - and completion could be as soon as the day after planning consent is granted.
But you say that searches still need to be done - which suggests a professional developer is not involved - and presumably no contracts have been exchanged. So the timescale is very unpredictable.0
