Changed name but old credit report not linked?

Options
Hi there, I was wondering if I could get some advice on my situation.

A few years ago I got into debt. Several defaults. Credit file ruined. I begun paying all these off and sorting myself out. These defaults were around 4 to 5 years ago now. Since that time I have also changed my entire name by Deed Poll. At the time I informed my bank (thinkmoney) that I had done so. I also had a loan with them at the time which I was paying off through their company Ideal Finance and was told that both details would be set up. Changed details on all my other things such as driving licence etc. I thought that this was all I needed to do. I wasn't on the electoral register under either name at my previous address.

I have since moved to a new area and decided to have a fresh start and rebuild things again. I also registered for the Electoral Register (didn't want to miss out on the EU Referendum). So I applied for an Aqua Start card and on the off chance a Very account. I got accepted for both. The Very account surprised me a little because I'm sure I had a Default years ago with GUS. So I checked my credit file.

It turns out my new name and old name haven't been linked. But this is where it gets confusing for me. I'm now aware that thinkmoney (until the end of this year) do not report to credit agencies and so my name change would not have been announced to them by them. However the Ideal Finance accounts were showing. However, both those loan accounts were opened under my old name and subsequently updated to reflect my new name. So how is it that my old name isn't being reflected as a link when clearly credit accounts (closed and open) were transferred over to my new name? Am I missing something? Have I done something wrong?

It's not as though I've tried to hide the name change either. I informed everyone I had dealings with and thought that by changing the names on any credit accounts/bank accounts would be automatically reflected. I gave my previous name when asked to when being credit checked for my tenancy. I wasn't even asked for it on the form when I applied for Aqua or Very.

So, should I be worried? Or will it get linked eventually when I apply for credit and actually get asked for my previous name?
