Wendy, read what's actually in the letter ....

    **MAY
    **PROPOSAL

Clearly they are unsure about it themselves

Extra costs are strictly limited in a County Court and only if allowed by a judge

What is disturbing is their presumption of "judgement costs and warrant fees and cost" and "if enforcement is used

It's no wonder that Gladstones fail in court, they now appear to be taking over the job of a court judge.

Gladstones are unethical in their methods and should be reported to the SRA ... https://www.sra.org.uk/home/home.page.
Gladstones have been reported many times

What happened when you complained to the shop, especially seeing as you have been using it for years?

Take no notice of any scam debt collectors letters, and don't pay them anything they cannot carry out any of their lying threats.

I spoke to head office - unfortunately nothing they can do as its not their car park. However, they have since, about a month after, taken down their signs saying customers only and informed everyone that its a private car park. I have before and after pics.

Yes to all above. Don't let your guard down though.

Can you tell us what Gladstones say in their letter about potential legal action. Please give it to us verbatim, do not paraphrase or guess 'from recollection'. It is important to differentiate their role as a debt collector and one where they might have taken instructions from their client to proceed to court. Very different animals.

You say you have been receiving post at work? Will you still be there after your marriage?

Have CPM ever written to you at the address shown on your car's V5C (formerly known as log book)?

What date did your parking 'contravention' take place - just month and year will be fine at this stage.

What you need to do next is try to see this in context. You are leading up to the greatest day in your life. The worst that could possibly happen is it might - much further down the track than your wedding day - cost you £150. Now are your wedding preparations and big event worth spoiling over a speculative invoice like this. Don't let this affect you, park it (pardon the pun) until after the big day and the honeymoon.

You've now got a number of experienced advisers here on MSE working with you to get rid of this from your life - so leave it (after answering the Qs above) until you've had a most fabulous day and honeymoon.

    All the best.

Have you read the IPC Code of Practice Section 15?

    http://www.theipc.info/uploads/vjnl0XFpge5CLwGPL3dN-KbdoEvOKUccAjn36Cbetwo/Amended%20Code%20of%20Practice%2001.10.2016.pdf

Now that does say that this does not apply to periods of less than 1 hour, but it also says that there must be wording to the effect that the 10 minute grace period does not apply must be shown on the sign.

Check with the signs and, if they omit this vital piece of information, submit a copy of the signs plus the relevant section of IPC CoP with your defence. Frankly, that should be all you need .

Oh - and they need to prove that the wording was on the original signs. Bet they can't.

You will when you read the advice & links under 'Small Claim?' in the NEWBIES FAQS thread.

Acknowledge online using the password without putting anything in the defence box for now. Read the advice, it's all explained there in the NEWBIES thread with example defences and a summary from bargepole about what happens when.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
