This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone.
It's dry outside. No rain overnight for the first time in weeks and weeks.
Yesterday was a fine day, hardly any wind and very warm. I had a very quiet day so nothing much got done apart from filling the bird feeders. A neighbour called round to get his tyre pumped up on his trailer but it's now in my barn with the wheel off, think it was the rim / valve which was broken. I mostly watched the Olympic Games in wonder.
As today is forecast to be sunny so I want to get the floor rugs washed and out on the line. I'm visiting a neighbour later this morning and will be chewing my way through more left over quiche still. I need to do a bit more teaching prep now that a couple of DK books have arrived. NSD I hope.
To those on holiday, have a lovely time.
To csarina and Lainey - my thoughts are with you and your families.
Happy Monday to everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very cloudy and overcast but still warm, very still and calm.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and gone to work. DS2 still in his pit.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, roasties, new potatoes, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, HG green beans, peas, stuffing, yorkshires and gravy. There's some LO's to use up. Tonight's dinner is smoked sausage and mushroom pasta.
We have had a fairly quiet weekend, but have got several jobs done, car has been serviced and MOT done, DH and the boys did some jobs in the garden, 1 load of tomato plants didn't really produce anything and were just in the way in the greenhouse so they were all sorted and got rid of, green bean plants were pretty much finished, so they were dug up and got rid of too, the only food plants I have left are the baby plum tomato plants in the greenhouse, they are absolutely laden with tomatoes and I'm struggling to keep up with them as they are now ripening all at once, nice problem to have though - if they become to much to keep up with, I'll use some to make some tomato sauce to use with pasta, and freeze it in batches.
Back to work today - have no clue what today will bring, last week was a busy Monday after a slow start, we'll see.
Loved watching the Olympics over the weekend, our Sportsmen and Women are doing us so proud.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
It's not raining! (Yet). Washing just finished so will put that out in a mo.
DW emptied.
Had a lovely day yesterday, DD and I cycled round the island, stopped for a picnic and coffee then treated ourselves to an ice cream from a very well known ice cream parlour in Largs, delicious. DD is off again on Tuesday which is the last day of my holidays so we may do it all over again but to a different island this time - if my legs will let me!
Sorry to hear OH is back in hospital csarina, hugs to you and also to Lainey.
Going to try to get the garden sorted out today, cut the grass last night but really need to strim the edges and get rid of plants that aren't doing anything, ie, courgettes and tomato, lots of flowers but no fruit.
Happy Monday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread Gers X
csarina - sorry to hear DH is back in hospital. Thinking of you both xx
Got all the washing done and dried this weekend, although some of it wasn't quite so line fresh as I'd hoped as next door struck up the BBQ just after I finished pegging out the last load. Can't be helped but I would have popped my head over the fence if it were me.
I have a meeting at the church today to discuss my hours. Had a lot of anxiety this weekend over some building work we are having done there. DH isn't best pleased that I'm using him as a sounding board for stuff I shouldn't be worrying about. Will hopefully get it sorted today.
Talking of DH, he had a few too many last night and managed to snap the garage key off in the lock and also tread dog do all through the kitchen and up the stairs. What lovely surprises to wake up to. My dad is coming today so DH will be cleaning whilst I'm at work.
Dinner tonight will be turkey puff pastry ring with veg. Just need to get the turkey - pretty key ingredient!
Have a good day all

Morning everyone,
Dry but a bit overcast here, hoping it will stay dry.
Yesterday was the gentle, peaceful day that was needed. Did lots of reading, sitting in the garden and nothing more strenuous that walking the girls, am so tired at the moment but suspect that is the tension etc.
Had several texts from Mum, DB took her out to Flatford Mill which she thoroughly enjoyed although said it had changed since was last there with Dad. Will check to see when she is being taken home today and sort arrangements for getting her to ours ahead of the wedding.
Will get busy today getting the house ready, intend to steam clean all the wooden floors and scrub down the kitchen. Ruined one of my small roasting tins yesterday, I had bought one of those chooks in plastic bags and when I took it out of the oven to cut the bag open for the last 20 mins realised that had left it in a green plastic tray that had melted onto the tin. Luckily none of the plastic was touching the meat but felt a bit of a numpty
Csarina so sorry to hear about your OH, thinking of you both xx
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread Gers.
Hugs to Lainey & Csarina
We are dog sitting again tonight, just one night and the following day, DD is going to LEGOLAND and her new postie refuses to shut the gate and the dogs keep escaping, she did mention it to him and got a disinterested shrug of the shoulders in reply. She phoned to complain and the next day the tw** opened both gates on purpose. She is taking her complaint further but need the dogs safe for today.
The ensuite is nearly finished but I will still be plumbers mate today no doubt, but I will find another few jobs to keep me busy as well.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a beautiful sunny morning here today, hope it stays nice for the wedding on Friday.
Hubby has been feeling very ill for a while now so I have packed him off to see his GP again. We both had a rubbish night's sleep due to worrying about what the doctor might find. Hopefully it is just an infection that can be helped with some antibiotics or something. He wants to be well enough to walk our daughter down the aisle. He has lost over a stone just in this last week so hopefully his new suit will still fit him ok. I am worried sick about him but put on a brave face as there is no point in panicking just yet.
Csarina, I'm sorry your DH is back in hospital but hopefully they will keep him in till they can make him better. Sending you a giant hug xx
Coxy, what a horrible thing to wake up too, my hubby would definitely be in my bad books if he ever came home in that state. Good for you for leaving the mess for him to deal with x
JackieO, your description of the boys sudden interest in the Olympics made me laugh out loud. Glad you are having a lovely time x
I have my therapy session this morning, they come around too fast. I don't know if I will continue with them as I feel so rubbish afterwards and for quite a few days after. Today I am supposed to be learning techniques to deal with my anxiety about the wedding. I hope they will help me.
DD15 is cooking tea tonight as she wants to learn. I have got all the ingredients in to make a chicken and leek pie so that will be a good one to start. The house needs tidying up too and DD15 has also promised to give the kitchen a really good clean and sort out.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Supposed to be at work today but have had to phone in sick as I have some kind of virus thumping headache and I cant keep off the looI hate phoning in sick but cant be passing it onto out vulnerable clients, will have an easy day and hope to be back tomorrow.
I have put a wash on with holiday clothes and will hang them on the line for a blow, its a lovely day so they should dry well.
OH fixed the kayak yesterday so that's ready to take away with us. DD will bring her washing down when she comes, I will ask OH to get the bags from the loft and start putting things in them as they are dry.
Not sure about dinner but I really can face eating atm.
Csarina sorry OH is back in hospital x
Lainey gentle hugs to you and mum xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one.
I was so exhausted last night I did sleep although, I woke a couple of times. I had been living on the edge since OH came out on Tuesday.
Had my breakfast, will be getting up shortly and driving to the hospital again, forgot to put s cereal things in for OH yesterday.
No laundry to do, did it yesterday. I might just wash OH's lap quilt I made years ago, it's never been washed. Fingers crossed the turquoise fabric does not run.0 -
Morning,
Shattered this morning and I already feel just ‘bleh’.
On Friday, the GF and I went to C*stco to stock up on some things and Saturday was our civilised night in at a friend’s house with good Italian food and some drinks. It was a very late one and so yesterday was a write off hence why I don’t feel on the ball this morning.
Back to work this morning and I’m in desperate need for a coffee to hopefully get me going.
Have a nice day everyone.0
