Employer wanting personal info

Are there others at your work who have been obeying your employers wishes and allowing the company checking your drivers licence access? Have they had any unwanted e mails etc? My employer uses a checking company and I have never had anything that could have originated from info on my drivers licence.
These companies have to adhere to data protection. Ask your employer if there is any chance of the company selling on info.0 -
Did they give you the name of the 3rd party company? (If I remember I'll check my files tomorrow to see who we use).
The Licence Bureau is who my company uses.0 -
What I am worried about is my personal data being sold on, getting into the wrong hands and getting hundreds of unwanted emails or even worse trying to be scammed. I am trying to protect myself
Do you have an email account? Social media account? Amazon account? Then your personal data is already out there, giving it to these guys doesn't make any difference. You almost certainly already get hundreds of unwanted emails although your email provider will filter most of them out. If someone tries to scam you then say no.0 -
I have nothing to hide. The problem I have is they want to use a 3rd party to contact DVLA, this 3rd party then have a lot of my personal data and I am concerned what they will do with it.
Plenty of employers use "3rd parties" for all kinds of things, it is sometimes called outsourcing. It is often a more cost effective way of dealing with a particular task than using directly employed staff.
Whilst it is right to be cautious I really do think you are over worrying about this matter.0 -
I am not paranoid and I'm not worried about anyone selling my story to the tabloids. What I am worried about is my personal data being sold on, getting into the wrong hands and getting hundreds of unwanted emails or even worse trying to be scammed. I am trying to protect myselfSignature removed for peace of mind0

This is a hot topic in Health and Safety at the moment and a lot of employers are cracking down on this. They have a duty of care both to you but also to others you may come into contact with. They need to take reasonable steps to ensure that whilst driving for business purposes whether it be in theirs or your own vehicle that everything is in order.0
