Rapid weight gain all in one week

I'm 6foot4 and heavily build (17st) and feel like I should lose around 2 stone so at 20st I'd definitely be taking more action! I was this heavy when weighlifting years ago and it didn't matter then but after hitting 40 I do feel like its too much weight (and I can't weighlift any more, long story).
It might be worth you getting a body/fat assessment, there are scales that do it (not sure how good they are) and there is the calipers approach. You don't want to mistake looking 'stocky' for covering up a potential health issue with your weight - I actually look better big, some people just do but knowing its more fat than muscle isn't any comfort!
Thanks for the tip. Thought naturally wide shouldered and always being heavier than I looked, I am for sure overweight and at a minimum target need to get to 120kg by the end of the year. Just weighed myself and I am hovering around 128kg currently. I am going to the gym pretty much everyday and watching what I eat so closely. For some reason, this week it's just not shifting and is going up0 -
The diet you have posted sounds absolutely horrendous!
You say you had chicken and salmon, but didn't say how it was cooked or if anything was eaten alongside it.
If that is a fairly typical week I would be quite concerned about your salt consumption as well as the amount of sugar and carbs you're consuming.
To counteract one Mcdonalds burger you would need to run for around half an hour, so to counteract this weeks eating you'll need to run a marathon!
Post day by day exactly what you ate, people can then offer better alternatives for some of the items.0 -
Or put it all in the myfitnesspal website and take a look at your diet broken down. I haven't been on there in ages and was totally shocked that 2 pink lady apples and a banana have used all my daily sugar allowance! Its an eye opener, particularly with the sugars, fats and carbs you don't realise. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Smoothie for breakfast and chicken for lunch sounds? absolutely horrendous.
Today I had 3 boiled eggs and 3 slices of wholemeal toast for breakfast. Sweet potato and Tuna (with a bit of Mayo) for lunch and Chicken with Quinoa and Avocado for dinner.0 -

No they haven't, the sugar limit relates to sugar that's been added, not the sugar that's naturally in foodstuffs like fruit:
"The definition for ‘free sugars’ be adopted in the UK and that this comprises all monosaccharides and disaccharides added to foods by the manufacturer, cook or consumer, plus sugars naturally present in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juices. Under this definition, lactose naturally present in milk and milk products and sugars contained within the cellular structure of foods would be excluded. The population average intake of free sugars should not exceed 5% of total dietary energy"

Theres far too much sugar in a smoothie, so much so you might as well have a frijj milkshake. Thats a lot of bread in one day. Are you not forgetting the multiple take aways?0 -

I don't think so at all to be honest. I mean that smoothie, the only sugar is coming from the blueberries and a single banana. And 3 slices? Not every day, at the most twice a week I would have that otherwise it is the smoothie.
Keep in mind this is a smoothie I make myself and not a random milkshake and got of the store shelf..0 -

The sugar in whole fruit doesn't count as free sugar because it's locked away in the cellular structure of the food, but sugar in a juice or a smoothie counts because the juicing process breaks down the cells and allows the sugar to absorbed much more readily. (see link above)0 -

You're eating like a sportsman but you're not one!
For your lifestyle you'd be better to look at something like Weight Watchers. That is a plan that you can adapt to your circumstances and you can continue to follow for the rest of your life.
I'm not sure where you're getting your food ideas from, they're not suitable for you.0
