Credit rating and mortgages

Hi everyone,
Looking for.some.advice if anyone can help.
My girlfriend and i want to buy our first home. I have a good credit score but my girl has a repossesion on her credit file.from.her previous relationship.
Does anyone know or have experience of this and if ut is possible to get a joint mortgage. We have a good deposit for our area (20k) and the house we want is around 140. I wont be able to get a mortgage in my own name as the banks would rather lend to a couple rather than an individual but with our combined salaries we can get a decent deal, but thats before they look into her previous credit.
Any advice??
