New glasses

Options
I thought I would shop around this time because I just pay at the opticians I go for my eyes tested.

I had them tested at Boots and they quoted me £330 for one pair of glasses. Antireflective coating, thinner lenses etc.

I then went to Asda and saw their prices, great prices but I didn't like their glasses, wasn't much ranges.

I then went to Optical Express and they wanted to charge me £395 for one pair of glasses! No second pair was offered to me.

I ended up at Specsavers. I did used to go there regularly until an optician and I clashed badly so ended up leaving them but they said £240 for 2 pairs of glasses. I have ordered them but how come Asda offer extras for free and they don't. I don't mind paying for good glasses as I don't wear contact lenses and I don't smoke or drink or have luxuries often.

Next time I think I will try Asda, they might have some glasses I like then.

From a general marketing perspective, they've built their entire business on low starter cost. So of course extras are going to cost more, they need to keep their base price low to fit their advertising.

My husband has a complex prescription, I've never paid base price at any optician. I just accept that's one area that will always be a big bill.
  • I thought they were all the same, stupid I know. I know my nearest one has one too but I haven't seen whereabouts it is in the store, to be honest I have never looked before. Are they usually near the tills

I've been getting mine from Glasses Direct for several years now. Same designer brands as Vision Express, Boots, etc at a fraction of the cost. Check them out next time, really good service as well as good prices.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
