I recently received a letter of claim from well known law firm and shortly afterwards , a letter threating court action should the sum of £280 not be received. The allegation being non payment of parking fees six months previously .
This was the first communication regarding that matter - no letter to keeper or parking charge notice. Also, when I contacted the Parking enforcement company by phone , the PCN number on the solicitors letter was not recognised by their automated telephone system .
I made the correct attempts to pay for parking on the day in question.
I am seeking advice on the way to go on this.

You need to give us more information about the parties involved here. Crystal ball advice doesn't come for free!
We don't need your story about 'what happened' in any great detail, but some kind of timeline, type of car park (retail park, supermarket, gym, hotel, airport, railway, docks, residential, motorway services), name of parking company and name of 'well known' law firm.
You'll need to answer questions as regulars raise them. It's holiday season and we've just lost our most prolific and knowledgable poster, so don't expect instant responses.
Have you read the newbies FAQ sticky? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The letter of claim was from wright Hassall regarding a purported "payment not made in accordance with signage" at an Iceland car park in January 2016. The carpark operator being CIVIL ENFORCEMENT who have ZZPS acting on their behalf.
A phone and pay system is used in the car park .0 -
if its an actual LBC from WH (and not from a debt collector) you write back using a debt is denied type letter like the GAN ones over on pepipoo
if its a debt collector letter, ignore it and wait for an LBC0
