This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning folks, dull but dry in Blackpool today.

Lainey, so sorry to read your news.
Czarina, hope DB had a good night and that you are rested too.

DH and I did a marathon stint at the allotment yesterday, need to do a couple more hours but not today. I'm off to DS2's future in-laws to help with wedding stuff :D, but hoping to be back in time for Andy Murray in the tennis final!

Now need to go & watch last nights Match Of The Day to see Mr Lineker in his pants ;):o:p

  • Thanks for kicking things off Floss. I'm sewing the table runners for my wedding reception today and need to pop into town to get some bits for my bridesmaids. Our plans on Friday didn't work out well. We set off to go walking at lumsdale falls but didn't get off the a46 because OH's breaks bound. We slowly headed home and he went straight to the garage. We are now £160 worse off and 2 weeks to go till the wedding. Eeek!!

  • Morning all
    Thanks for the thread Floss

Hugs to Lainey, AOD, Csarina and a belated Happy Birthday to Elona.

Dull here at the moment, but I expect it will brighten up later like yesterday.

We went to B&Q yesterday, we needed a basin with a vanity unit to finish off the ensuite shower room.
Most were around £400, way over our budget but we eventually found one for £74, so we bought it and hubby will start to fit it today.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning all,

Thank you Floss for starting us off.

Overcast here at the moment but I understand the sun will shine later.

We are off to the Farm Shop shortly to see what soft fruits and veg are available.

It is just us and the cat over the weekend, DGD has gone away for a few days with her BF, we will miss her.

Thinking of Lainey and her Mum and Csarina and her OH and delated Happy Birthday to Elona.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone.

We are planning a quiet day at home, just the two of us and the dogs, a nice long walk is probably on the cards at some point. My big old girl obviously sense something's up as keeps coming out to me and laying her head on my knee, they have such fantastic intuition don't they?

It was lovely to see my DSIL and nieces yesterday but hard when both the girls asked after their Grandma, just said she sends her love and is looking forward to Wednesday, we will all be there with bells on for such a special day, that's what families do :heart2:

Thinking of dear CSARINA and her OH, please take care of yourself x
Lovely to hear from JACKIE, had to laugh at the description of your lovelorn teenager x

Have a good Sunday everyone, take care folks x
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one. OH is not sleeping well, we were drinking tea and eating chocolate biscuits at 2am.

Just had our special Sunday breakfast in bed, thinking about getting up.

I want to strip the bed and get the sheets etc washed. It's a bit dull out, but it could be heat haze, we do get it here from time to time, eventually get he sun does break through.

It was good to get out for a while yesterday, even if it was for shopping, the house full when I got back was a surprise though.

I need to pick French beans, I looked at them last night, lots of beans big enough to pick, so we will be having some with the chicken tonight.

Our neighbours brought apples. I have some blackberries left, will make a blackberry and apple crumble for dessert. I am trying to push OH to eat more fruit.

Has any one else noticed lots of spiders about? I have encountered 4 large ones over the past few days. I hate the things, one fell out of my hair yesterday when I went to wash it. OH thought I had done something awful to myself!!!

Right off to get my body dressed.

    Morning everyone.

I've just woken up. I hardly ever sleep so late but I was awake at 5.30am for an hour or so and then fell asleep again. All those late nights with my visitors caught up with me.

Yesterday I stripped the guest bed and got the linen out on the line and dried. Apart from that I did bits and pieces in the house and tied the Virginia Creeper to the wall again. The wind was so blustery over the past few days it's flattened loads of the flowers.

There's plenty of food in the fridge. I over estimated what I'd need for the week given that two of my visitors were in a B&B and my elderly gentleman had a bird-like breakfast each day. We found some lovely cafes for lunch, one evening meal out and one of fish and chips. Just how much quiche I can get through remains to be seen!

The sun is shining brightly. It's so annoying that my visitors were drenched every day.

Hugs to those who need them, keep on supporting your loved ones.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

    Morning all,

Warm here but hazy hope the sun breaks through later on, I have stripped all the beds and got them all on a hot wash, they can all be hung out on the line and OH will remake the beds later on.

I have to clean my car out today and give it a hoover (one of my most hated jobs) but we are off to Devon in it on Friday so I need to make sure its clean.

OH is going to mend a puncture on the kayak as there is a canal at the bottom of the garden which we can use.

I am also going to do an online shop for things to take with us. I need to give the bathroom a good clean, and pull something out for dinner.

We will take Evie out for her walk later, yesterday at the park she out ran a huge greyhound she is so fast for a tiny dog, the greyhounds dad could not believe it she was running rings around him :rotfl:

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Lainey hugs to you xx
  • Morning all, I am starting to feel better, had a very long sleep and that has helped. Given the lurgy to the mister though, he never admits to being ill, but I can hear him sniffling and sneezing.
So far today, I have read a book, read the paper and cleaned the bathroom, Che ked through work emails. Now I am going to have a bath and later I will make spaghetti with meatballs. Except I probably won't have any meatballs.
Thinking of LaineyT and Deleted_User xx
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Sun is shining, and a beautiful blue sky.The tribe have nipped off to Blackgang Chine for the morning (I've been so many times when the children were small) and I am happily sitting in the garden with a pot of tea and my book. Its DDs wedding anniversary toda,y and I will be 'grandson sitting' tonight, I can't call it baby sitting they are all taller than me :), as DD and her OH are going to walk along to the Wight Mouse Inn about 200 yards away for a meal, and I'll do the boys something at home. Yesterday was my eldest DDs wedding anniversary as well, but she is down at her caravan in Deal I think this weekend. Two weddings in two days is hard going :):) but we did it:)

    No wonder I have grey/white hair :)

After lunch we are going back to Sandown, for the beach there is pretty good, and if we go to the Yaverland end of it we can take the little dog. The weather has been so nice since we have been here, such a change since last year when it rained for most of the time. Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine while you can it never lasts very long in this country so we have to make the most of it.

    Cheers everyone
