Freezer (in kitchen) condensation pools on top and sides cold

Hey Peeps! 
I've done a search and found this thread which is closest but doesn't really address the issue I'm facing...
We have a standalone freezer in the kitchen, used to be in our friend's garage but we bought it after they moved away. It seems to always be cold on the top surface and on the sides. Condensation commonly forms at the top and if it isn't dried every day, it becomes moldy and not very nice.
This has happened for a while - the kitchen is (obviously) normal room temperature like the rest of the house, I wondered if there's some fault with the freezer or whether it's something which can be repaired.
Appreciate your thoughts on this one :beer:

Sounds like a classic insulation failure from being stored in the wrong climate, very common mistake even on new ones and, worth noting for others that read this thread, such faults are NOT covered by any manufacturer's warranty.
Insulation failure to that extent is certainly unrepairable. Most times any failure of the insulation is pretty much unrepairable and, even if it is attempted, you've only got a 50/50 chance of a successful repair in most cases.

I guess we'll have to look for a new freezer, bah humbug. Hope it'll be ok for a few weeks longer, otherwise we'll have to eat the contents, starting with all the ice cream :drool:
