tenants liability insurance scam?
Moggo
I have just booked an apartment in Paris (via Booking.com) and have been contacted by the property owners who advised that I need mandatory (under French law) tenant's liability insurance covering any damage caused by fire, an explosion or water @ 3.5% of the cost of the apartment rental. I have booked the apartment for one week only so the premium cost for this insurance will be £22.
I have comprehensive travel insurance and have contacted my provider who confirmed that this is not covered and they have never come across this before.
Has anybody else? and have they paid it?

Thanks for the link. I did skim through this earlier today but thought it related to long term lets, not holiday lets and just for a week. I'll read it again!0

Thank you so much Moto2 for pointing me in the right direction!
I checked my policy document and I am covered under the personal liability section of my policy. I rang my insurers again today and they confirmed that!
It's just a case of where to look in a lengthy document so I could ask the right questions! Your help is very much appreciated!0 -
Is this a new requirement?
