Out of Interest...Parking in Aberystwyth

evening all, just after some opinions/advice.
No issue really but more the hypothetical "if".

So hubby and I took the motorbikes for a little jaunt round mid wales and ended up on the quayside parking in Aberystwyth (think thats spelt right!). Found the motorcycle bay (which already had one car parked in it, but we squeezed both bikes on to the end), and prepared to go find lunch.
Went to check the Pay and Display board to check motorcycle restrictions - most let you park for free for reasons that follow- this place was different.
ALL VEHICLES were required to pay - ok, fine - bit miffed as two bikes so twice the charge - one car of four/five only pay once and take the same space as two/three bikes - more of grumpy person syndrome there!!
So we dutifully paid knowing how these car parks operate, got the tickets out the machine....and they weren't adhesive!! How were we supposed to attach and display these on motorbikes on the windy coast? What is to stop another motorist from taking it and saving themselves some cash?

Anyways, whilst id love the refund of 2x£2 :rotfl: i really dont think this is a fair charge?
I want to complain to the council, but would i be wasting my time?
I feel quite strongly about this and feel that motorcyclists are being unfairly penalised on taking up less space, and having no secure way to display tickets when playing by the rules?
(as we subsequently found upon returing, my ticket i'd attempted to wedge into my mini screen had 'disappeared'..id say the wind but who knows ...)

thoughts please?:)

was it definitely a council car park ?

if so , I suggest you post in the council forum over on pepipoo forums as they would be more likely to know the answer

generally speaking , you pay for parking nowadays , even BB holders are rarely exempt

if it was private parking , anything goes in england and wales

as for the tickets , its rare for them to be sticky as they hope the ticket will flip over (or fluttering ticket) so they can penalise you , and they often expect you to input the VRM which stops them going to another motorist as its printed or part printed on the ticket

going by the photos i took of the signs, it looks like it was a council carpark.
But having had the pleasure of dealing with a private firm a few years ago ( thank goodness for this forum and pepipoo!) i now do not trust any parking i am not familiar with. Better to err on the side of caution these days..

    A very sensible philosophy!

As for the ticket on a bike/ fluttering ticket problem, much as it grieves me to say it, a proper, fairly set up anpr (catching the rear plate) vrn input system should solve that.

But as we know scamming and unfair systems is more lucrative!

Yes the car park in Aber is a council owned and run carpark, non adhesive tickets can easily go in the tax disc slot which attendents will check.

You can just park for free on the prom.

Probably too late now, but just for future reference, there is a small bike park next door to Natwest bank on corner of Baker Street and Gt Darkgate Street in the middle of town.
