Hello,
My husband and I have recently bought our first renovation project.
The architect has quoted the following
A survey of the building £900 - this would involve measuring accurately the rooms
A sketch plan - £750 that we could then look at to see if we were happy with.
Then at a later stage a detailed drawing that could be used for planning applications and builders to work from - £1800
He would liase with planning and building regulations officers as necessary.
This is the first architect we have spoken to, Do these figures seem excessive?
Thanks

It honestly depends on the size of your house and what level of specification you expect.
If it's in a cheap northern town, not very exciting and of less than average size, then it looks extortionate. But if it's a big house, listed, complicated, full of glass and steel and in Central London then it may be very reasonable.
You'll have to tell us what you're expecting.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

the survey seems expensive and the other bits reasonable enough but without seeing the building/site, it's impossible to say - just get another couple of quotes to compare
and check whether people you are asking to price are arb registered etcThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
