Anyone any experience of trying to get taxis from Sharm airport?

We are travelling (just two of us) and taxi seems the best option at the other end. Anyone any experiences of doing this already?

Maybe best to get hotel to arrange one, at a agreed fixed price

Regular taxis from the airport are plentiful and fairly cheap (by our standards!) plus they seem to know where all the hotels are (a big plus for egyptian taxi drivers *lol*)

They all quoted us the same price: we tried haggling with them, but unfortunately they know that they have you over a barrel so we didn't get very far. We were a bit annoyed as compared to what we paid for taxis in Cairo it was expensive, but then when you condsider it was less than a tenner it really isn't that expensive - it was just us not wanting to pay tourise rates!

If you ask the hotel to arrange one for you they will invariably send a "limousine" (basically just a decent fairly modern car) and it will cost you maybe twice as much. I would just pick a regular taxi up at the airport.

All I can add to this is to make sure you aggree the fare before accepting. Great place to visit. You must do the quads bikes into the desert for a real good time.

Thanks to everyone. We 'did' Egypt once before but it was an all-in deal so this time we have to fend for ourselves a bit more. Still looking forward to it immenseley though.
