Speeding fine
Hi I have just received a fine which I am going to pay and take the points but wondered if there's any kind of appeal after it has been paid. I can not go to court as I find it impossible to talk in person but do think that I could win of I did.
I was on a duel carriageway and came to a 50 sign which was 350 yards from a roundabout, going straight across to a single road which was 60 last time I was on it, the road wasn't signed. Then after 600 yards there was a 50 repeater whith a cameravan behind it. I thought I had missed the national speed limit sign and had my cruise control set at 60 because I was that sure of the limit. Could someone tell me if 950 yrds is right for the first repeater, the rest of the road has plenty of repeaters.
I hope I havn't been too unintelligible in this post, but have tried to give as much info as possible

There's no appeal once you've paid the fixed penalty as it is an admission of guilt.0 -
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

If you wish to contest it, you will have to decline any FPN or course offer and let it go to court, where you can enter a NG plea and present your defence.
You can employ a solicitor to speak for you if you wish but would almost certainly have to give evidence yourself during the trial.0 -

But, as a general rule of thumb, take the FPN (or course if you're offered one).0 -

Only if the prosecution agree to it and if they were to accept it Section 9 why go to trial?0 -
There is no set distance for repeaters to be placed (and indeed under the current guidance in the updated TSGDR2016 rumour has it that no repeaters are required).
I fancy that turning up to court and admitting (via a solicitor or in person) that you like to drive on the basis of how the road was last time you went along it, rather than by using your eyes isn't going to persuade them that you deserve leniency (indeed that isn't a question for them to answer). In fact you could argue that it is an admission of careless driving - i.e. driving that falls below the standard expected of a competent driver.0 -
As there was no contrary speed limit sign after the 50 mph sign prior to the roundabout
Furrrrrrrrrget itIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Must have been close for the OP to have got pinged, actual speed sould probably have been 55 given how most speedos over read, and given the 10% + leeway often applied.
No excuse for the fact he's over, and admits it, but maybe a tad unlucky.0
