Moving soil pipe for extension

Evening all

We are in the process of buying a 1930s semi and wish to slightly extend it for a kitchen/diner. On the rear of the kitchen is an extension of about 1.5m but we'd want to match this on the rear of the dining room to allow for bifolds across the full width.

The issue is the soil pipe runs right down the middle of the rear of the house. We don't want it inside and boxed in so wondered if they can be moved fairly easily?

Easy job stick a straight coupling on it and extend it cover with pea gravel and cover over, put a rodding eye on the end outwith your slab line if you have one
  • Where are you on the run of sewers? You may need a build over agreement from the water company.

The correct answer is this is a matter covered by the Buildings Regulations, and requires careful thought before doing anything. Nobody on this forum will be able to answer your query without knowing the position of the svp, the location of the drains, and the levels of the drainage pipes.

You need to engage a professional, or a competent groundworker/builder then apply for the Regulations.

But as a general, pragmatic, good practice rule never put a rodding eye on foul drainage pipes located beneath the ground.

Thank you all- at least it sounds possible. I'll let a builder to look at it and advise.

Get the architect to sort it.
