Busy day putting shelves in the chimney alcove. Getting the last mountain of books out of the way, they were left in piles on top of things all over the place when I did the shelving in the back room.

Also had the council take away the two armchairs gifted to us from a streetlifer clearing her mother's house. They were the wrong size, shape, colour, everything, but they did us for more than 9 months, and there were no takers when I re-offered them, so off they went in the back of a van. No fire safety labels, and they were a colour that always looked grubby no matter what you did.

So the living room looks huge now with those out of the way. Still need to finesse the arrangement a bit, but you can see that this is going to work out really well. And be a nice surprise for DH when he comes home to a tidy house with places to put things. He may well faint.

So, course, because I have been focused on the living room today, the kitchen is a total bombsite, the kids are acting up and chasing each other around the house, and for the first time in over 3 years I got called into the headmistress's room at hometime, as she overheard something on the playground and blew it totally out of proportion. there was no malice involved, they were playing, let molehills be molehills. Her knickers were well and truly bunched though.

DS4 came 62nd in the cross country race!! (out of 62)

It was definitely the taking part that counted today.

Good on him for the taking part- I'd have given up any mthunh when I was a kid to get out of cross-country!!

Not quite in a row, have had 11 spend free days out of 17 so far this month. I am in the September Super Scrimpers' challenge. They keep me on track.

I think I am going to go down to about £250 in the bank once the windows are done. Which fills me with terror.

And the tumble dryer has stopped again - error code F04 this time, which is nice, as I know it is not the circuit board or the heating element cos they were replaced last week. It was very nice, and finished all the school uniform before it decided to go kaputt.

DH is coming home tonight so fresh sheets on the bed and plenty of hot water for the bath. He will probably be in bed by 9.00.
