Just been sat plugging all the holiday dates in between now and December. Maybe I should have poured something stronger than coffee!

I put big red borders on the (paper) calendar around all the school holiday dates this week and checked which YHA hostels have 6 bedded rooms. List made. Then I can pounce as soon as they do a 50% or 70% off sale. :beer:

Went with vanilla sponge with choc chips and chocolate icing. Pasties baked and wrapped ready for the lunchboxes in the morning.

Sadly the shelves did not make it on to the wall. It is all marked up and ready, but got called away to supervise/referee kid stuff and never made it back to doing what I wanted to be doing.

Still, there is always tomorrow after the dentist:( at 11.00

Still no news on the ferry to Ireland. Will have to ring up on Monday, at least to see if they received the letter requesting dates.

So now I wait.......

Went off to dentist. They had a look, said we need to do x-rays, make another appt. :mad:
The first appt they have is half way through April, right when I have requested the ferry dates that I might or might not have. :mad:
So now I wait....

Stupid tooth. Stupid ferry. Stupid Easter holidays.

This is supposed to be a thank you prize for improving their service.

Feeling a bit foot stampy now - I don't like dentists at the best of times, I have a high tolerance for local anaesthesia - in that they inject my gum and my toes go numb instead, so they spend all their time topping me up to the point of palpitations when I return to vertical. So there was I, expecting to be fixed, and I am not. Genetic mutations, gotta love em. :rotfl:

Post this morning was from Mr T who has sent me £3 off a £20 spend coupon for this week, a £2 of a 20 spend for a fortnight later and another £3 of a £20 spend for the fortnight after that. Ta very much.

So, I am in limbo (and pain)....and... I... hate.... waiting.

Oh no foxh0les so frustrating when you spend time / energy trying to get things sorted and all the planets collide at once into a big pile of brown stuff.

Hope all the dates work out - its ridiculous how long you have to wait for appts in this country - still at least we have the NHS which is more than a lot of countries.

Dare I ask if the aforementioned shelves made it anywhere near the walls today?

The drill is being uncooperative, I have managed a few holes, but killed a masonry drillbit and now have a replacement. Hopefully it was the bit that was the problem, I am waiting until 10.00 before starting to drill again. Just out of neighbourly politeness.
I do not drill before 10 or after 6.

Today is payday! and I still have £300 left over from last month's frugality, but I know I need car upkeepy things.

DH stayed home to have a coffee with me after I came back from the morning school run (he is waiting for the barber to open up shop really, but I pretend he wants to drink coffee with me!)

The kids are thinking up things they can give up for lent (we are not Christian, but they want to test their resolve) DS2 wants to try not swearing for 40 days. Hopefully it may become a habit. He has a filthy mouth and DS3 is starting to copy him. Thus DS3 has lost computer privileges until the weekend for telling DS2 (who was trying to wind him up as much as possible) to, er, fiddle off. Never nice to hear from a 9 yr old. Will have to threaten to wash his mouth out with a soapy flannel like my auntie did to me.

Oh the difference between parenting in the 1970s and the 2010's !! My kids cannot believe what you were allowed to get away with doing to chastise your kids.

I must get them reading Dickens to show them how lucky they really are. Or send them down t'pit.

Post from last night I rescued when the internet disappeared.

p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; } And the three shelves are on the wall! Already filled with books, and lo! ... behold.... the great wide expanse that we shall now call...... DS2s bedroom floor!! yay!!!

Feeling very very excited about putting shelves up in the rear living room now. You can put a hell of a lot of stuff on shelves in those alcoves! And we have a hell of a lot of books. Argh, I am getting excited by the idea of diy - I have just spent 3 days putting up shelves and I still want MORE!

Also had confirmation from the ferry for the dates I asked for, and a bill for £120, for the return travel for 4 kids, so £15 each way each. Can't complain! DH is coming with us for the first time in about 6 years. So we shall probably be doing the Giant's Causeway (free because of NT membership), a day trip to Belfast, The Burren, a day trip to Dublin, and himself's parents. 8 days. all ferry crossings at night - boat leaves around 10pm, docks at 06.30 and is only about half an hour from where we stay.

The drive on the way back is about three and a half hours - no motorways - and as it is early in the morning, I always seem to miss the traffic. Always handy with 4 kids in the back. And it means I won't feel bad about not going over for weeks on end in the summer. The kids are starting to rebel about being made to go off to the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, staying with old people who throw them outside and lock the door on them! and have their books confiscated as 'they can't just read all day', with no computers or tv and nothing else to do
