Joint Account effect on Credit?

Hi all,

Interested in views... Does a joint account have any impact on a persons credit score? For example, if my OH needed to improve her credit score would she benefit from a joint account which we paid all bills from? Or is the CS more based on your own personal accounts?

There is no way to improve or otherwise impact a credit score as it is a randomly generated number designed to get you to sign up to a CRA's subscription service.

In terms of how favourably your are viewed by potential lenders, having a link with someone with a better credit history is unlikely to improve your situation. However, having a link to someone with a worse credit history is likely to have a negative impact.
  • Understood, thanks Mem.
