How do I convert vhs to dvd?

Thanks. There is only one VHS I want to keep so this may be expensive, but I'll look into this.
In which case, wouldn't you be better off just finding someone who has the capability to do this, who already has the gear, and who will copy your one tape in return for, say, a donation to their favourite charity?0 -

It'll cost you about £25 to get a VHS converted to tape.. or you could buy this for £22 and do it yourself - https://www.amazon.co.uk/ClimaxDigital-Converter-Software-Recording-Including/dp/B003PSI73G
There's quite a few of these online, but this has got a scart adaptor and reviews saying it works with Win 10.0 -

If I knew someone who could do this, I would have gone down that route.0 -

This looks like a reasonable option, as I only need to copy one VHS tape.
I've looked at the blurb, and don't really understand what I will need apart from a VHS player (which I have). Do I need a DVD recorder (as I don't have one of these), or can I use my computer which I think can burn discs?
by the way, I know my PC can burn CDs, but I'm not sure if it can burn DVDs. How can I find out?0 -
I still have my vhs player. I also have a PC windows 10 and Mac book air.
The bit I'm stuck with is what else do I need?
Have you got a DVD recorder? If not, borrow one or find a cheapie on ebay.
I transferred several VHS (in fact VHS-C from a camcorder) tapes by playing them on a standard VHS player while recording on a DVD recorder to its built in disk, then writing DVDs from the disk. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
Many thanks for all the advice.
I have ordered this:

If your optical drive has a front piece on the tray, it's usually embedded in that. DVD-ROM is read-only for DVDs. DVD-RW means you can Read and Write to them
If not, you should be able to find the model number from Control Panel, Admiistrative Tools, Computer Management, Device Management, and read it off the DVD drive entry.
In my case, it reads "ATAPI iHAS324". I google the second word, and that tells me it's a Lite-on, model iHAS324. Further googling would get me the spec for it if I wanted to0
