Tour Operator/Travel Agent cashback vs haggling

Have you had better results getting the list prices on the comparison websites or tour operator's/ travel agent's and factoring in their cashback on top? (Using Topcashback or Quidco for example) Or getting the list prices then haggling over the phone, usually missing out on the cashback segment?

Applies to both package holidays and DIY's.

If the same package holiday is sold by at least two of the main tour operators, you're going to get good results haggling direct with tour operators, but always check the lowest price with a flight+hotel combination.

Before booking a package holiday get an e mail detailing what's excluded and included.
