Scottish Power mess up
Hi,
I have just checked my account messages with my electricity provider (Scottish Power ) and found a copy of a letter sent to them by someone else. The address is on my street but has the number 108 on as opposed to mine which is number 10. The name and account number are totally different. This is not all. Their letter concerns a debt owed to the provider and gives all their income details, bank details etc.
Surely this is a major data protection breach?
But also I am worried about them linking money owed to my account, I have never been in debt and don't want anything linked to me due to someone else's mistake

Probably just a 'Fat Finger' error, but on the other hand this is SP who came top of the Complaints Legue after a botched software up date.
Best to cover your tail by writing them a letter headed Complaint, and asking with tongue in cheek, if they want you to print out the letter out and deliver it to their customer at No 108, who of course will be delighted that SP have broadcast their financial details along the street0
