    Ditto and ditto.

I just get the paper reminder.

    Ditto and ditto and ditto.

But the DVLA have my correct address for both my car and driving licence.

    OP it's not rocket science.

Can't help with the bailiff stuff, but might I suggest purchasing a calendar, and paying more attention to personal admin in future.

Did she update the address on her V5? Did she receive the new V5 with updated address?
Simplest option is paying by DD, then no need to remember to renew tax every year. Still won't sort updating V5 address though.

You can pay once, annually, by DD and get the same rate as paying once, annually, by any other means.
Even monthly DD is cheaper than getting fines at £355/.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Is it like the TV licence where the first 6 months are double the cost to ensure you're always in credit rather than arrears? That's the main reason I don't pay my TV licence by direct debit.

Also, I initially thought this thread was going to be about the new £140/year car tax charge from 2017 for all but zero-emissions cars. I expect 66 plate cars to fetch a nice premium in the future compared to their newer counterparts!

Some will, some will be the other way round.

Same as pre- and post-September 2001. Some were cheaper, some were more.
    Same as some pre-March 2006.

Hmm, why would any 66 plates have reduced resale prices due to the VED changes? If you plan to keep a used car for 5 years then a 66-plate costing £0-30/year in car tax is going to save £550-700 compared to the slightly newer 17-plate one (costing £140/year).

Are you forgetting those cars where VED is currently above £140/yr?

Oh yes, of course. Didn't think about that because I would never consider those types of cars. :)
