I have been contacted by a claims agent who has stated that I can claim back from when I was 18, (quite a few years ago). Is this correct ?.
I did have credit cards and a bank loan, but I was declared Bankrupt in 2006, which was dissolved within 6mths.
Previous agents have said because of the bankruptcy I wouldn't be able to claim anything back.
Could anyone please shed some light on this please.

Bankrupts cannot benefit personally from PPI complaints. Redress is treated as a pre-bankruptcy asset which goes to the Official Receiver for re-distribution to former creditors.
As such, you stand to gain nothing at all if you complain.
It also doesn't matter how long ago you went bankrupt..
The "Claims Agent" is totally wrong and should not even attempt to sign up a bankrupt.0 -
Just so I know for when the "claim agent" calls me back, is the "claim agent " is wrong and I can not claim anything back prior to my bankruptcy ?0

You can claim it but the money belongs to the OR as a pre-bankruptcy asset. I believe it is a civil offence to not declare it if you got paid something.
A claims firm would charge you a % of any "win" even if you don't see any of the money so you'd get nothing and have to pay them so they should never be suggesting using themSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
