See if you can loan a energy meter from your local library so you can check each device individually to see how much energy is used.
Is it common for libraries to loan energy meters? There's no evidence mine does from their website but if they did I'd be interested.

Very common these days, just email them and ask if it's not mentioned on their website. Mine offers them free for 3 weeks.

Ours does it for two weeks.

But as they are only £12 from Screwfix you might as well get your own.

My one has highlighted several items that draw power when I thought they were switched off - not least our electric reclining chairs - 15watts each when just plugged in - that's over £30 a year for the two.

The cooker takes more than I thought as well - we've got an induction hob together with an oven clock and the two of them consume around 50watts when not switched on - so we switch off at the wall. Anything with a touch button to turn it on or off takes some power so it's worth switching stuff off at the wall if you can.
Our washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and dishwaher all get shut off at the wall when not in use as they've all got easily accessible isolating switches, fitted when we had the kitchen and utility rooms refurbed. Likewise the TV, DVD player, surround system and computers.

As I've got an energy monitor I can see instantly whats been left on and make sure that it's not left on when not required.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Have you an intruder alarm system?

If so, it is likely to be the only device that consumes more energy when you are away on holiday and it’s running permanently than when you are at home and it’s mostly switched off.

The consumption of such a system will, moreover, be difficult to monitor if it’s been hard-wired into your premises to render it tamper-proof.

Either it has not enough air circulation or not enough refrigerant in its system.

Or the thermostat needs replacing. This happened on my chest freezer. Cost me £12 for a new thermostat
